  • Three semesters of full-time study are expected, with either the first or second semester spent abroad, depending on concentration.
  • Students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits per semester and a maximum of 22 credits. We do not recommend that you enroll in more than 18 credits (Average graduate student course load is 15 credits)
  • All course petitions for waiver or substitution are submitted through the CEMS Program Manager.
  • Only Statistics (BTRY 6010) and Managerial Economics (AEM 5600) may be waived if taken previously. Please submit the MPS Course Substitution-Waiver Form and the course syllabus for approval. You may take additional concentration electives in order to meet your 30 MPS credit requirement.
  • Exchange courses may be considered as MPS concentration substitutions if approved by the CEMS concentration leader. Not all courses are eligible for substitution and not all concentrations allow substitutions. A grade of C or better is required.
  • Students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5
  • Be aware of key semester dates such as last day to add or drop a course.
  • You are responsible for your own progress toward your degree! If you are unclear about expectations, please contact the CEMS Program Manager.

MPS-CEMS SPECIFIC POLICIES

  • The CEMS Student Guide contains CEMS policies and requirements. Please read it carefully to understand all CEMS expectations.
  • CEMS activity (Courses, Global Business Project, Skills Seminars, etc.) is captured in the CEMS student portal. Please check for accuracy. Aim to complete all CEMS requirements during your CEMS year. 15 ECTS may be counted from your third MPS semester if needed. Total CEMS ECTS = 66.
  • Language courses are not counted as CEMS electives. If you cannot take a language course while abroad, plan to take it in your final semester at Cornell. Most Cornell introductory language courses are offered in the fall semester and meet daily. Language skills are an important aspect of CEMS. Please plan to take a language course to meet CEMS requirements for L3.
  • CEMS electives and core courses must be graded. Pass/Fail (S/U) is not an option for CEMS electives.
  • Students are enrolled at Cornell and pay Cornell tuition during the semester abroad.
  • Exchange courses and grades appear on the Cornell transcript but do not count in the Cornell GPA. The official university transcript from your exchange school should be sent to the Dyson School registrar.
  • Plan to take 1 ECTS (4 Skills Seminars) during each term of the CEMS year to fulfill your 2 ECTS requirement.
  • If you are a no-show to a Skills Seminar, you will be blocked from future Skills Seminars in the current semester and the next semester. If you cannot make a Skills Seminar, be sure to cancel according to school guidelines!
  • You are responsible for your own progress toward fulfilling all requirements! If you are unclear about expectations, please contact the CEMS Program Manager.
