Subject: Dyson Digest - January 23 - Welcome Back

We are excited to have you back on campus for spring 2023!

There is a lot of information to share with you all and please make you review the full email. Key reminders:

  • Double check your schedule to verify what you are enrolled in for fall.
  • Being on a waitlist for a course does not mean you are officially in the course even if you have access to the Canvas site.
  • Attendance and engagement in your courses is vital.
  • SDS accommodation letters should be provided and discussed with your instructors as soon as you get them.
  • Course Assistants (formerly TA) should refer to enrollment details below.
  • If you have any concerns or questions, reach out to your instructors and the Dyson Student Services and Advising team.

I ask for your patience with everyone as we work through the add period. The best option to receive a quick answer is to email Dyson_OSS@Cornell.edu so that your question can be directed to the correct person. Please do not email multiple people about the same question.

Good luck with the first week and start strong. We are glad you are back. Stop by and say hello when you are in Warren Hall.

CORE COURSE ADD, SWITCH, or SWAP INSTRUCTIONS

If you would like to switch sections or swap sections with another student for any of the Core courses listed, please follow the specific instructions to ease the process for everyone.

  • AEM 2010 Spreadsheet Modeling
  • AEM 2240 Finance
  • AEM 2420 Marketing
  • AEM 2601 Strategy
  • AEM 2700 Management Communication

SPECIAL NOTE:

  • Requests will be processed in the order received.
  • If the requested details (options below) are not included, your request will be returned and a new request will go to the bottom of the queue.
  • There are times that for an unforeseen reason, the switch or swap will not be completed.

OPTION #1
Add a core course (from above) that you were not already enrolled

  • If you have not been enrolled in one of these courses, please email Dyson_registrar@cornell.edu. You can verify what you have been bulk enrolled in already on Student Center.

OPTION #2
Switch into open section

To request to switch to an open section, your email to the Dyson_Registrar@cornell.edu
MUST include the following and title your email: “Switch Request”

  • Course Number - from LEC XXX to LEC XXX
  • Example: AEM 2010 - from LEC 001 to LEC 002

**Please keep in mind that I can only switch you into an open section.

OPTION #3
Swap sections with another student

If a section is closed, you may choose to find a student enrolled in the other section who would be willing to swap with you.

To request to swap a section with another student, your email to the Dyson_Registrar@cornell.edu MUST include the following information, email title of “Swap Request,” and you must copy the other student on the email.

  • Student Name #1 - Course Number - from LEC XXX to LEC XXX
  • Student Name #2 - Course Number - form LEC XXX to LEC XXX

WAITLIST UPDATE

If you are on an online waitlist, please be patient as the Registrar's office works through enrollments manually. You will be notified if you are next on the list.

Being on canvas is not being officially enrolled in the course. If you are not officially added to the course by the add deadline, your access will be removed.

SPECIAL STUDIES ENROLLMENT

Beginning today, January 12, 2023, the online application for independent study/undergraduate research/teaching assistant (course assistant) will be available through Experience Cornell. Please look for the following form titles:

Once the application is submitted and fully approved, you will receive a Permission Number by email. You must self-enroll in the course through Student Center (search by the Class Number) – you are not enrolled in the class until it is on your Student Center schedule. Please pay careful attention that you enter the approved number of credits and grade option when enrolling. If enrolling in a special studies course or TA course puts you over your maximum credit limit, you will be required to complete a petition before the enrollment for the special studies enrollment can be processed.

The deadline to enroll in independent study/undergraduate research/teaching assistant is Friday, February 24, 2023. Applications started by Friday, February 24, 2023, will be processed without a petition once they are approved. You will receive emails regarding the application from noreply-cep@cep.cornell.edu.

Petitions to ADD a special studies course will not be accepted after the deadline, NO exceptions even if you have been working the full semester.
