Happy New Year!

I hope you are having a wonderful winter break. I know some of you are in winter courses, others are traveling, and some are working. Continue to recharge when you can over the next few weeks before classes start. I wanted to share some important reminders regarding the upcoming enrollment period as well as to announce the opening of the 2024 Cane Entrepreneurial Scholars Program.

Enjoy your time and we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks. Keep in mind, that the best option to receive a quick answer is to email Dyson_OSS@Cornell.edu so that your question can be directed to the correct person. Please do not email multiple people about the same question.

WAITLIST UPDATE

If you are on an online waitlist, please be patient as the Registrar's office works through enrollments manually. You will be notified if you are next on the list.

Being on canvas is not being officially enrolled in the course. If you are not officially added to the course by the add deadline, your access will be removed.

SPECIAL STUDIES ENROLLMENT

Beginning today, January 16, 2024, the online application for independent study/undergraduate research/teaching assistant (course assistant) will be available through Experience Cornell. Please look for the following form titles:

Once the application is submitted and fully approved, you will receive a Permission Number by email. You must self-enroll in the course through Student Center (search by the Class Number) – you are not enrolled in the class until it is on your Student Center schedule. Please pay careful attention that you enter the approved number of credits and grade option when enrolling. If enrolling in a special studies course or TA course puts you over your maximum credit limit, you will be required to complete a petition before the enrollment for the special studies enrollment can be processed.

The deadline to enroll in independent study/undergraduate research/teaching assistant is Friday, February 23, 2024. You will receive emails regarding the application from noreply-cep@cep.cornell.edu.

Petitions to ADD a special studies course will not be accepted after the deadline, NO EXCEPTIONS even if you have been working the full semester.

Application: Tinyurl.com/DanCaneApp
Application open NOW through January 31st.

LAIDLAW LEADERSHIP AND RESEARCH PROGRAM

This is a quick reminder that applications for the Laidlaw Leadership and Research Program are due January 31.

In just two years, Laidlaw scholars become skilled researchers and learn to lead with integrity through two funded summer internships, with leadership training and an international network of scholars. The program has four major components:

    • Research Project (first summer)
    • Leadership Training (ongoing)
    • Leadership-in-Action (LiA - second summer)
    • Networking (ongoing)

In the first summer choose from one of the faculty-led projects offered, or propose your own. In the second summer, either continue your first-year project topic with a global experience, pursue a new global project of your own, a global internship, or one of the Central Laidlaw LiA projects. All within a supportive cohort of scholars, peer-mentors, and community of faculty, grad students and staff. Learn more about some current Laidlaw Scholars projects here, and here.

We also have one final in-person Info Session on Wednesday, January 24 at 5:00 pm.

If you'd like to schedule a one-on-one advising appointment to discuss any questions you have about the Program, or your application, please don't hesitate to reach out. Use this link, to make an advising appointment and select “Global Internships” and set up an appointment with Maja Anderson. If you have any questions email mma86@cornell.edu.
