Happy Fall!

The leaves are starting to change, and air is crisp which means pre-lim season is here. Make sure you are communicating with your professors and course assistants if you need clarity around the course material or if you have accommodations through Student Disability Services (SDS).

Additional resources including the Learning Strategies Center (LSC), Tatkon Center for New Students, Stress Management Strategies, Sleep Strategies and Mental Health at Cornell are also vital at this time of the semester.

The team in the Dyson Office of Student Services and Advising is here if you need anything and can serve as a wonderful resource for questions, or concerns. You can find links to various helpful resources through the Dyson Launchpad.

Next Monday, October 2nd, is the fall 2023 Dean’s Distinguished Lecture featuring, Maxine Bédat. Maxine is the author of the Dyson Summer Book Read, UNRAVELED: The Life and Death of a Garment. See below for more information and to RSVP.

Happy Yom Kippur to those who celebrate.

Have a wonderful Homecoming Week. Go Big Red – Yell Cornell!

Join us for the Faculty Fellow's Food for Thought Series: Mental Health with Professor David Lennox. This is a safe space community conversation. All are welcome! Lunch provided.

Cornell students are juggling an array of challenges from coursework, relationships, navigating campus life, to economic strain, social injustice, and various forms of loss. This community conversation is intended to destigmatize mental health and to provide support and a safe space to begin to normalize and prioritize mental health, just as we do with physical health.

David Lennox, senior lecturer of management communication at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, has teaching and research interests that focus on persuasion, visual communication, speech delivery, and intercultural communication. He holds a bachelor's degree, cum laude, with majors in English and speech communication. He also holds a master's degree in English from the Claremont Graduate School, and an MBA from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management at the same institution. Prior to joining Cornell, Lennox taught at Walla Walla College, the University of Washington, and Central Washington University-Lynnwood. He also served as a technical educator for Internap Network Services, and has consulted for organizations such as Kennedy Nelson Shultz Communications and the Port of Seattle.
