Welcome to week six!

I hope you were able to get out and enjoy homecoming and fall festivities throughout this past weekend.

As we head into pre-lim season, please continue to take care of yourself and get enough rest while you prep for the upcoming academic deadlines. It is vital for you to communicate and work closely with your instructors and CAs during this time. If you have an SDS letter, make sure to forward it to your instructors as soon as possible. SDS accommodations are not retroactive and must be shared with your instructors in a timely manner in order to recieve accommodations.

Continue to reach out to Dyson_OSS@Cornell.edu with any questions or to connect with resources. If you are in need of support or have a friend you are concerned about, make sure to reach out as well. We have to take care of each other.

You can also find degree checklists, academic and mental health resources, upcoming events, and additional information on the Dyson CampusGroups Website and the Dyson Launchpad.

Thank you for making Dyson such a wonderful community! Consider attending the Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival this weekend on the Commons (information at the end of this email). Happy Fall!

Fall counseling groups
Health’s fall counseling groups offer a safe environment to process with and learn from other students who are dealing with similar concerns. Group topics include anxiety, depression, and perfectionism, with groups especially for students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and graduate students. Groups are led by CAPS counselors, are free, and are primarily offered online (a few groups meet in person). Many fall groups still have openings: visit health.cornell.edu/groups.

Drop-in support from CAPS
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) counselors offer skills-based workshops and Let’s Talk drop-in consultation hours every day, Monday-Friday, to help students get care and support when they need it. Both services are free and available on a drop-in basis via Zoom (Let’s Talk also offers in-person consultation).

Make time for sleep: Enroll in Refresh
Take 15 minutes a week to prioritize your sleep! Enroll in Refresh, Cornell Health’s eight-week self-guided online program for evidence-based strategies proven to help you catch more high-quality ZZZs. The Fall 2022 begins October 2 (enrollees are welcome after the program begins).

Flu vaccine clinics
Don’t forget to get your flu shot! Sign up for a timeslot at one of Cornell’s flu vaccine clinics, held at various on-campus locations through November 15. Vaccination is FREE for all students, staff, and faculty. Visit health.cornell.edu/flu.

ITHACA'S APPLE HARVEST FESTIVAL

The 40th Annual Apple Harvest Festival presented by Tompkins Community Bank returns to Downtown Ithaca this fall, September 30th-October 2nd.

What better way to kick off New York Cider Week than with three days celebrating apple growers, cider makers, and of course cider donuts in Downtown Ithaca, New York.

Apple Harvest Festival will host plenty of farmstand fresh apples and produce, delectable apple and seasonal baked goods, a variety of food trucks offering tasty bites, and a craft fair with artisans from around the region. There will also be live music and entertainment, plus a cider trail to enjoy refreshing cider in store and plenty of great apple and apples-inspired products for sale inside shops in and around Downtown.
