Subject: Dyson Digest - August 21, 2023

We are so excited to have you all back on campus and happy to welcome you to campus if you are joining our community for the first time this fall.

There is a lot of information to share with you all this week. Please review the full email so that you do not miss out on anything!

  • Double check your schedule to verify what you are enrolled in for fall.
  • Attendance and engagement in your courses is vital.
  • SDS accommodation letters should be provided to your instructors as soon as you get them.
  • If you have a concern or questions, reach out to your instructors and the Dyson Student Services and Advising team.

We hope you decide to join us tomorrow (Tuesday) for the Welcome to Warren event from 11am-3pm. Join the Dyson community for yard games, Dyson swag, fun inflatables, and lots of great food! Come have lunch and play some games with others in your community. More information below. We hope to see everyone there!

Good luck with the first week. We are glad you are back. Stop by and say hello when you are in Warren Hall.

Director, Student Services and Advising

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY REMINDER
Students are responsible for verifying their course enrollment, graduation requirements, number of course credits, and course sections multiple times throughout the semester. Any questions or concerns should be discussed with an Academic Advisor in the Dyson Office of Student Services & Advising.

COMMUNICATION UPDATES

Patience Requested
The Student Services and Advising Team has been working to make sure all student’s questions and concerns have been addressed. I do ask for your patience during this time.

Student Outreach from Our Office
There are times someone in the Office of Student Services & Advising reaches out to you to discuss academic concerns or general wellness concerns. If you receive one of these requests, please respond so that we know you are safe and we can talk about resources and support as needed.

How to get an email reply
As a quick reminder, please ONLY email one address in our office with questions or concerns. The best option is to email Dyson_Registrar@Cornell.edu with specific course-related questions but do not copy Nicole (or other staff) on the email as well.

CAMPUSGROUPS APP
If you have not downloaded the CampusGroups app, please do so soon in order to keep up with upcoming Dyson events. Once you have downloaded the app and logged in, make sure that in the top left corner you have both the Cornell University and the Dyson version. You will be able to toggle back and forth between the two versions to view both Cornell events and Dyson-specific ones.

SWAP REQUESTS
If you have completed the swap request form, please do not reach out to ask about when/if your swap will be made. Nicole and Gretchen are working through these as seats open and will make the changes when and IF that happens. Please be patient!

WAITLIST UPDATE
If you are on an online waitlist, please be patient as the Registrar's office works through enrollments manually. You will be notified if you are next on the list.

COURSE SHOWS IN CANVAS BUT NOT ON STUDENT CENTER
Being on canvas is not being officially enrolled in the course. If you are not officially added to the course by the add deadline, your access will be removed. You need to continue to monitor this to completely understand your official status in the course.

DROP-IN ADVISING – IN PERSON
Please be patient with everyone as we work through the add period, study abroad deadlines, and general pressures of the first weeks of school. The best option to receive a quick answer is to email Dyson_OSS@Cornell.edu so that your question can be directed to the correct person. Please do not email multiple people about the same question.

The following drop-in times are ONLY to discuss Fall 2023 semester questions in order to have time for more students to be seen.

Monday – 1-2
Wednesday – 12-1
Thursday 10-11
You can check in at Warren Hall B34.- watch your email for additional times
