Hi all!

I hope you all had a great Homecoming Weekend. It was wonderful to see our young alumni around Warren on Friday!

Fall break is just around the corner so make sure you are leaning in to you courses this week to ensure you can truly use your fall to relax and recharge. Before you shut down for fall break there are several important events happening this week.

The Fall 2023 Dean’s Distinguished Lecture is Monday night at 7pm in the Statler Auditorium (RSVP below). This year’s lecture will be from Maxine Bédat, author of UNRAVELED: The Life and Death of a Garment. Her lecture is open to the Cornell community, and she will discuss aspects of her book in relation to fast fashion, sustainable business, supply chain, and labor. This event is mandatory for all first-year and new transfer students. There will be a book signing following her lecture.

The Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC) is hosting a series of Town Halls this week as well. The town hall platform allows for you to share opinions, concerns, and ideas about your academic journey within the Dyson School. We want to hear about your experiences, what's going well, and where we can improve. The Town Halls happen by class year, and you can find more information and RSVP below.

The team in the Office of Student Services & Advising is available to talk with you and help you better understand how to connect to resources for support in your courses, or your physical and mental health. If you are behind or didn’t do as well on your pre-lims as you had hoped, make sure you are following up with your faculty and the course assistants asap. The deadline for changing the grading option is October 16th.

Lastly, as you may have noticed some changes to the Collaboration Zone in the Warren Hall basement over the past week. This is in preparation for new carpet, new furniture, and more that will happen over fall break. We look forward to sharing the upgraded space with you all after break.

Happy soon to be Fall Break!
