Tomorrow (Monday, March 20th) is the deadline to change a grading basis or drop a course. Keep in mind not all courses are offered with the S/U option and there is a policy regarding dropping a Dyson Core course (see below)
The Academic Advisors in the Dyson Office of Student Services and Advising can help you think through your choices. There will be virtual Drop-In Advising on Monday from 2-3pm at Zoom Link (pw: gobigred).
The deadline to drop a course or change the grade option for this semester is Monday, March 20th at 11:59pm.
Drops by this deadline, will not appear on the student’s transcript.
Only one Dyson Core course can be taken as S/U.
The deadline is FINAL and no extensions will be granted for any reason.
The grade option can only be changed for courses that are offered as letter or S/U (see graphic below to figure out if a course is offered as grade option).
DYSON CORE COURSE DROP POLICY
This is a reminder for any Dyson students enrolled in one of the following core courses, that you are not permitted to drop without first submitting a petition. The Dyson core curriculum is structured to give students the framework they need in introductory level courses to then move on to upper-level electives and required concentration coursework. Petitions are reviewed on an individual basis, and students must exhibit "rare and extenuating circumstances" to be approved.
The general petition form can be found on the Dyson Launchpad. Students whose petition is ultimately approved to drop a core course may not receive scheduling preference or priority in future semesters for that same course.
University drop deadline dates are still in effect. Any petitions to drop a core course received by the March 20, 2023, drop deadline that are approved will result in a drop (no record on the transcript). Any petitions to drop a core course received after the drop deadline that are approved will result in a "W" on the transcript. There are no additional exceptions to waiving a "W" after the drop deadline.
Dyson Graduation Recognition Ceremony

* All students will have their name read and they will walk across the stage

Hey Dyson students!
Are you interested in the prospects of the financial management of a local business, growing local clientele by leading advertising campaigns, or coming up with creative new revenue streams? Join the executive board at Cornell Media Guild for the upcoming semester!
The purpose of Cornell Media Guild Inc. is to promote the professional and creative endeavors of the students of Cornell University in industries such as Marketing, Business, Broadcasting, Finance, Management, Technology, Entertainment, Music, and more. We strive to offer our members a vast network of alumni and real-world experience through hands-on work that comes with running a self-sustaining business. We are a commercial non-profit that has been student-operated and broadcasting throughout major historical events since 1935.
Our Business Affairs department is in charge of the prosperity of the station’s financial well-being. Alongside your executive responsibilities, you will have access to a large network of alumni that are happy and willing to help you every step of the way, both in regard to your work at CMG and your life as a developing professional. While you get to experience what it is like to work for a non-profit organization and long-time staple of the Ithaca community, we aim to enrich your managerial and business acumen skills in order to help you reach your professional goals post-graduation. The Business Affairs department has two open roles available for the 2023-2024 academic year:
Assistant Treasurer
Assists the Treasurer with managing financial operations. Creates monthly reports for the Board of Directors (Alumni network) to convey a clear and accurate picture of the station's financial health. Works with the General Manager to develop budget, sales goals and projections, and monthly financial and sales reports using the software QuickBooks to produce balance sheets and P&L statements.
Business Director
Collaborates with the Treasurer and Marketing Director on initiatives that maintain and increase revenue for the Guild. This includes ad voicing, ad production, account acquisition, partnership development with other local businesses, and go-to market strategies.
Our formal elections are on Sunday, March 26th at 11:00 AM in room 401 of the Physical Sciences Building. If you would like to learn more about these two roles, please reach out to our General Manager Lauren Thomas (lgt28@cornell.edu) for more information.
