Dean’s Distinguished Lecture: Daniel Cane

The Dyson Undergraduate Council is proud to host Daniel Cane ‘98, CEO of Modernizing Medicine, as our Dean’s Distinguished Lecturer for 2025. We invite you to join us as we discuss Dan’s entrepreneurial spirit that has paved the path of his career, and how he connects his current opportunities to the roots he established during his time in Dyson.


While a student studying Applied Economics and Management at Cornell, Cane co-founded Blackboard, a web-based virtual learning management system. This led him to his current venture of Modernizing Medicine, which is a healthcare technology company focused on EHR systems and solutions.


On campus, Dan is recently known for his establishment of the Cane Entrepreneurship Scholars program. This program has been created to encourage the development and growth of young entrepreneurs at Cornell through not just financial support, but also mentorship and experiential learning.
